Traditional Culture Encyclopedia - The 24 Solar Terms - Why do geese fly north?
Why do geese fly north?
It's very cold in the north in winter, and it's difficult to find food, so in autumn, geese will fly from north to south and come to the relatively warm south for the winter. This is also one of the habits of geese as migratory birds.
As for why this happens, it is mainly due to the climate, so geese have to migrate north and south. In summer, there are long sunshine hours and plenty of food in the north, which is just suitable for geese to feed their chicks. So from beginning of spring, geese will fly north to breed, and their hometown is Siberia in the north.
Flight characteristics of geese;
In the process of flying, the geese in front are very powerful and experienced. Because the head geese flap their wings to drive the airflow, the geese behind them will fly easily without having to rest many times.
A low-pressure area will be formed behind the head geese during the flight, and the geese that follow can use this low-pressure area to reduce the air resistance during the flight. It is beneficial to the continuous flight ability of the whole group.
