The fifth day of the fifth lunar month welcomes the god of wealth.

Greeting the God of Wealth is an ancient custom of the Han nationality in China during the Spring Festival. Wang Yuanbao, a native of Kaiyuan in the Tang Dynasty, was extremely rich and made a fortune by selling colored glasses.

Many living habits of Wang Yuanbao, such as worshipping the God of Wealth on the fifth day of the first month, had a great influence on people at that time, especially on the folk customs of later generations. The custom of welcoming the God of Wealth on the fifth day of the first month has been passed down to this day.
