Introduction to Toei Three Kingdoms
Toei's "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" is a complete animated film produced by Japan's Shinano Project. The animation consists of three parts: "Dawn of the Heroes", "The Burning Yangtze River", and "The Vast Land". It was drawn from 1987 to 1991.
It was completed in 2006 and took more than four years.
It is the largest production in the history of Toei Animation, costing 1.4 billion yen. It was inspected on the spot in mainland China. It is known as the most faithful to the original Three Kingdoms cartoon and won the highest honor of Japanese animation - the Animation Golden Seat Award.
In order to create a true Chinese style, the production staff went to various parts of China several times to collect real scenes and materials. There were also dedicated people responsible for verifying the times and events, and Chinese musicians were hired to play traditional Chinese instruments such as guzheng and erhu.
The entire work is full of Chinese flavor.
In terms of character modeling, the producers made reference to the Three Kingdoms character paintings in China over the years.
