Introduction of Xuzhou Bangzi
Xuzhou Bangzi, one of the local operas of the Han nationality in Jiangsu Province, is named because it uses jujube Bangzi as a percussion instrument and its melody rhythm is conducted by a pair of drums and Bangzi. Xuzhou people also call it "drama". It has been popular in Xuzhou area of northern Jiangsu for three or four hundred years. In the early days, it evolved from Cao Zhou Bangzi. Later, famous actors in Henan organized class performances or passed on art. Therefore, the singing of Xuzhou Bangzi has both the richness of Shandong Bangzi and the delicacy of Henan Bangzi. On June 7th, 2008, Xuzhou Bangzi was approved by the State Council to be selected into the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage list.
