Rules and etiquette of drinking gaiwan tea
1.Preparation of tea utensils
The tea utensils needed for Gai Bowl Tea are: tea bowl, tea lid, tea brush, tea spoon and tea towel.
2. Wash the tea utensils
Wash the tea utensils with hot water and dry them with a clean tea towel.
3. Grab the tea leaves
Use a teaspoon to grab the tea leaves into the tea bowl, usually one teaspoon of tea for each bowl of tea.
4. Brewing with hot water
Pour hot water (about 80 degrees Celsius) into the tea bowl, and gently stir the tea leaves with a tea brush to release the full aroma.
5. Covering the tea lid
Place the tea lid on the tea bowl and hold it against the tea brush, invert the tea bowl so that the tea lid is tightly fitted to the tea bowl, and then lift up the tea brush to gently blow off the excess tea powder.
6. Taste the tea
At this point, the tea cover has been fixed on the tea bowl, the guest should use two fingers to hold the tea cover, gently lift it up and taste the tea soup. After drinking, use two fingers to gently press the tea lid back into place.
7. Finally
Finally, wipe the tea bowl clean with a tea towel, thank the host for providing the gaiwan tea, and clean up the tea set.
