What are the standards for tap water?

National standard: GB5749-2006 "Health Standard for Drinking Water for Life";

Industry standard: urban construction industry standard: CJ/T 206-2005 "urban water supply water quality standards";

Local standard: Shanghai standard: DB31/T 1091-2018 "drinking water quality standards for life";

In principle : local standards are stricter than industry standards, and industry standards are stricter than national standards.

Tap water refers to the water produced through the tap water treatment plant purification, disinfection, and meet the appropriate standards for people's living and production use.

Water for domestic use is mainly drawn from rivers, lakes and groundwater through the intake pumping station of the water plant, and surface water, which is treated by the water treatment plant in accordance with the "National Hygiene Standards Related to Drinking Water" through the process of sedimentation, disinfection, filtration and other processes, and is finally delivered to various users through the distribution pumping station.

Expanded Information:

Tap water is drinking water that is manufactured through a number of complex processes and through specialized equipment. Tap water treatment process is as follows:

First of all, the water source must be extracted from the rivers and lakes to the water plant (water intake is different in different areas, the water source directly affects the quality of drinking water in a region);

Then, after coagulation, precipitation, filtration, sent to the clear water tank and disinfection, by the delivery pump high pressure into the tap water pipeline, the general main line using pre-stressed concrete pipe, steel pipe, PE pipe, ductile iron pipe and other pipe materials;

Final diversion to the user faucet. The whole process has to go through a number of water quality tests, and in some places, it has to go through a second pressurization, a second disinfection before entering the user's home.

Based on the environmental functions and protection objectives of surface waters, according to the function of the high and low in order to be divided into five categories:

Type Ⅰ is mainly applicable to the source water, the National Nature Reserve;

Type Ⅱ is mainly applicable to centralized drinking water sources of surface water primary protected areas, rare aquatic habitat, fish and shrimp spawning grounds, fish, baby baiting sites and other juvenile fish;

III Class Ⅲ mainly applies to centralized drinking water surface water source secondary protection areas, fish and shrimp wintering grounds, migratory passes to, aquaculture areas and other fishery waters and swimming areas;

Class Ⅳ mainly applies to general industrial water use areas and recreational water use areas not in direct contact with human beings;

Class Ⅴ mainly applies to agricultural water use areas and general landscape requirements of the waters.

Corresponding to the surface water of the above five categories of water functions, the surface water environmental quality standards for basic project standards are divided into five categories, the different functional categories were implemented in the corresponding categories of standard values. The standard value of the high functional category of water is more stringent than the standard value of the low functional category of water. The same waters have more than one type of use function, the implementation of the highest functional category corresponding to the standard value. Realize the function of the waters and up to the functional categories of standards for the same meaning.
