Natural law: pay no less than anyone else's efforts

People do not know what they are suitable for, because it is a chicken and egg problem, there are wise people will see through the fog of life, will not stay in a daze to spend their lives, superb execution with tireless thinking, out of a full and rich life.

Thousands of people's souls are not static, a person like to do what a person is good at doing what is also dynamic, a thing you just keep honing, will become good at it, and then will like this thing, and then you will think that you are suitable for doing this thing. Conversely, it's hard to consistently improve if you don't keep honing, it's a matter of chicken and egg first, so choose what you're good at, even if you fail quickly to try quickly and you'll have a hard time making the right choice. Because it is dynamic, we break can not use static vision, according to their own today like, good at and judge what they are suitable to do.

The world is having a lot of chicken and egg problems because of this, and without this realization nor this action to crack it, one falls into the class of muddle. There are so few people who have this wisdom. And this wisdom will not come out of thin air, the human soul can be built, their whole body and mind like a thing + very good at this thing can be done world-class + very suitable for themselves, resulting in a trinity is bound to achieve great results, on this path is the entrance: like their own work, and work desperately to do the best.

Kazuo Inamori suggests that in addition to working desperately, in fact, there is no higher know-how in the world.

Kazuo Inamori: working desperately can sharpen the soul

Profile of Kazuo Inamori: a lifetime of starting from scratch, establishing 2 Fortune 500 companies, 65 years old to become a monk, at the age of 78 years old, he was asked by the Prime Minister of Japan to come out of the mountain, with a salary of 1 yen per annum, to serve as the head of Nikko (a Fortune 500), and 1 year's time to make Nikko go from bankruptcy to profitability to relaunching the company.

When you are focused and fully engaged in your work every day, inefficiencies and rambunctiousness disappear. No matter who it is, as long as he enjoys his work, as long as he enters the state of desperate efforts, he will consider, how to do a better job, he will search for a better, more effective way to work.

Desperately working while thinking about how to improve your work, then your every day will be full of creativity. Today to be better than yesterday, tomorrow to be better than today. This constant pondering, repeated thoughts, will give birth to good ideas, produce useful enlightenment.

I don't think I have much ability, but every day, while working hard, I will open my mind, diligently seeking to put forward better ways of working, in order to increase sales, there is no better promotional program? In order to improve efficiency, there is no better production methods? As a result of this continuous research, progress is often unexpected. Kyocera's ability to continuously develop new products and markets is the result of our diligence and dedication to excellence.

If you don't do your best and don't concentrate on your work, you can't talk about inventions. Sloppy, half-knowledge, dangling, in this negative state, even if you want to find a good way to work, creativity can not come out. You work tirelessly, desperately hard, exhaust yourself, think hard, and still can't get anywhere. At this point, it will move God, and God will take pity on you and give you a new revelation.

Sincere, earnest, unremitting efforts, desperate and still not give up. When God saw me working so hard and being so persistent, he didn't mind my stupidity and generously gave me new wisdom, new inspiration, and new revelation.

I think the reason why God gave me the remarkable ideas and wisdom that I didn't have is a kind of retribution, the result of my hard work.

Look at the world's great inventors, those who developed epoch-making new products, new technologies, we will find that they have paid no less than anyone else's efforts, they are hard work, hard thinking in the inspiration. There is no such person in the world who is lazy to gain success and who speculates to bring about inventions and creations. From this fact, I firmly believe that doing our best and making efforts no less than anyone else's will surely bring great rewards to our career and life.

Desperate work hones the soul

There is one more thing that is very important. From morning to night hard labor, there is no leisure. As the old saying goes, "small people do not live in idleness for good", this kind of animal, once there is leisure, it will move unorthodox ideas, do unorthodox things. But if you are busy, focused on work, there will be no non-thinking, no time to think about superfluous things.

The monks of Zen and the practitioners of Shugendo (a Buddhist sect interspersed with mountain beliefs, Taoism, Shinto, and other elements) hone their souls in the process of hard practice. By focusing the mind on a single point, suppressing distracting thoughts, and giving them no room to operate, they organize their minds, hone their hearts, and create pure and excellent personalities through such practice. As with this cultivation process, when one is fully engaged in work, there is no room for wild thoughts. That is to say, working with all one's strength and desperation hones one's soul.

I have told you that "honing the soul creates an altruistic heart," that is to say, it creates goodwill and kindness, and it creates a compassionate heart that cares for others. In addition, I have repeatedly told you, as long as you have such a good heart, for the sake of society, for the sake of others, and implement in action, your fate will certainly be changed in the direction of good.

Concentrate fully on your work, and as long as you do that, you can hone your soul and forge a good heart. With a good heart, it is natural to think good thoughts and do good deeds. Although we do not know what fate we have been given, thinking good thoughts and doing good deeds, this thought, this practice, will form a force that will lead to the transformation of our destiny in a better direction.

Twenty-five years ago, when Kyocera was still small, I established Seiwajyuku by popular demand. To date, along with the continued growth of Kyocera and Dai-ichi Telecom & Telephone, I have been able to tell you and share with you the experience I have gained from my work while doing my best and working desperately. This experience is not an empty theory, but a practical study of management. I have no doubt that the most important thing I can teach you is nothing else, but to "do your best and work hard".

The following is the full text of Kazuo Inamori's speech in Hangzhou:

I am Kazuo Inamori, who has just been introduced.

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the many Chinese entrepreneurs who attended the Kazuo Inamori Management Philosophy Hangzhou Seminar organized by Kazuo Inamori (Beijing) Management Consultants Ltd. and to the many students of the Japanese Moriwa Juku School. At the same time, I would also like to thank the friends of Hangzhou Seiwajyuku who have worked very hard to organize this conference since 2010, when I wanted to be at this management philosophy presentation. The systematic explanation of my management philosophy and management methods is an insight that I have personally realized during my half-century-long management practice.

From the beginning of the Beijing presentation on "Why Management Needs Philosophy", in Qingdao, I spoke on "Twelve Rules of Management", in Guangzhou, I spoke on "Amoeba Management", in Dalian, I spoke on "Kyocera Accounting", in Chongqing, I spoke on "Qualification of Leaders", and last year in Chengdu, I spoke on "The Essentials of Corporate Governance", on how to motivate employees.

Through these lectures, I have emphasized the importance of philosophy in business management, the principles of business management, the mindset and organizational structure of business management, and the responsibilities and roles of business leaders and employees.

After this series of lectures, today I would like to talk about how the leaders who are in charge of a company should work, under the title of "The Way of Doing Things".

There are many operators who make it as easy as possible for themselves and drive their employees to work hard to make a lot of money and a lot of money.

Also, there are many people who set up a new type of venture business, go public and make a fortune, and then retire from the business at a young age to relax and enjoy themselves. There are a lot of people in every country who have this as their purpose in life.

In my opinion, if we take making money and having fun as the purpose of our life, we will not be able to achieve true happiness for ourselves and our business will not be able to grow and develop in a sustainable way. The society always expects the operators to have a more noble purpose in life.

So far, the principles and principles of management that I have discussed in my speeches in China, the way of thinking of management and the organizational structure, whether they can work correctly or not, depend largely on the practice of the operator's method of work, or on the operator's purpose of work in the end, so in this sense, in order to let all of you, as an operator, to be able to become a great man, to do great things, I think it is also necessary to ask you to do a great job, to do great things. I think it is also necessary to ask you to re-conceptualize the meaning of work.

So, how should operators work? And why do operators work? I'd like to go on in this order.

First, as a matter of course, an entrepreneur must lead his business to success. Whether he is creating a venture or inheriting an existing one, the first thing he must do is to get the business on track and make it grow.

The starting point for this is to work with a strong desire to "make the business a success no matter what," and to do so to the utmost. This strong "consciousness" is similar to the "struggle" that you must have in a fight. A person who lacks this "fighting spirit" is not suitable to be a manager in the first place. On the contrary, as long as you have this "consciousness", even if the capital, technology, talent is not enough, can rely on the enthusiasm and perseverance to make up for the beliefs, you can make the cause of success.

People may think that it is impossible to succeed in business just by relying on "awareness". However, there is a great power hidden in the "consciousness". It is generally believed that logical deduction, reasoning, and strategizing are the most important ways to use the mind to "think". What is "realized" in the mind is not a great thing. But I believe that the importance of the "realization" of the heart is much greater than the thinking with the mind. Consciousness is more powerful than anything else in our lives.

"Consciousness" is the root and foundation of all human behavior. The proof of this is the journey that modern civilized society has taken.

Primitive humans picked fruits from trees, caught fish and animals, and lived with nature by gathering and hunting. Then, about 10,000 years ago, humans began to have their own means of production, through which they planted grains and raised livestock for food, thus entering the era of farming and animal husbandry. In the era of gathering and hunting, human beings could not survive by their own will alone, but relying on farming and animal husbandry, human beings began to get rid of the constraints of nature and could live according to their own will.

Then, about 250 years ago, the so-called Industrial Revolution was launched in the United Kingdom, and the invention of the steam engine gave mankind the power to drive. From this time onwards, inventions came one after another, and scientific and technological advances were made with dazzling rapidity. This is what built such a spectacular and affluent modern civilization. And all this in just 250 years.

That is to say, the present civilization began with the Industrial Revolution and relies on the development of science and technology. So, how did science and technology become so advanced? Needless to say, the origin is the original "consciousness" that we humans have.

"I want to do this", "it would be convenient to have this", "it would be great if there is such a possibility". "realizations" and "thoughts" that will surface in each of our minds. For example, so far we have walked or run, so is there a faster, more convenient way to move around? "I would like to travel in a new mode of transportation", these kinds of "realizations" and "thoughts" rise up in our mind like a dream.

This dream-like "awareness" is transformed into a strong motivation, which is then put into practice, and people start working on a new form of transportation. First, they used their minds to conceive the idea, then they tried hard to make it, then they thought about it again, and thought y about it, and kept on improving it, and after repeated failures, they finally made various kinds of transportation. Some people designed and manufactured bicycles; some people invented steam locomotives, which later evolved into trams; some people invented automobiles; some people built airplanes.

The invention of something, in the concrete implementation, must use the mind to think, must be studied. But its beginning is suddenly in the heart of the emergence of the "idea". Generally speaking, the "idea" of this thing is often belittled. Often heard people say: "Do not rely on thoughts, do not rely on whims to say things". But in fact, this "idea" is the most important, modern science and technology, the origin of all inventions, all started in this "idea".

This is exactly the same in business operations, the strong "idea" in the mind of the operator may become a reality.

That said, I am reminded of a story. "First you have to think it!" It means that desire is very important. I learned this one from Mr. Konosuke Matsushita when I was young.

When Kyocera was founded, I was an amateur in business management, and I was eager to learn the secrets of management from successful entrepreneurs. At that time, I got an invitation to a lecture by Mr. Konosuke Matsushita. I was eager to find out what kind of thinking Mr. Matsushita, who was known as the "God of Management," used to run his business. I applied for the invitation and went to the lecture venue with great anticipation.

On that day, I was late for work, and I stood at the very back of the room and listened to the lecture.

"Running a business in the boom is good, do not think that the boom will continue to be good, to take into account the economy will be a downturn, in the capital surplus to do a good job of reserves. It's about being like a reservoir of water, running a business to prepare for when there's a downturn."

The theme of Mr. Matsushita's talk was that a large amount of rainfall, if allowed to flow into the rivers, can cause flooding and invite major flooding. So first, the river should be allowed to flow into a reservoir, and then water should be released as needed, so that not only can the flooding be curbed, but in times of drought the river can also be prevented from cutting off the flow of water, and thus the rainwater can be used effectively. This way of thinking about water management is applied to business operations, which is the so-called "reservoir management".

At the end of his speech, Mr. Matsushita began to answer questions from the audience. Someone in the back row raised his hand and asked, "What you said about reservoir management is that there must be a surplus and a reserve for management, and we all understand that, Mr. Matsushita just did not say it, and we small and medium-sized business operators also understand this, and we all think so, but it is precisely because we can not do it that we feel frustrated. How exactly can we do business to have a surplus? If we are not taught concrete methods, we are not satisfied and it is not good." The questioning was laced with protests.

At that moment, Mr. Matsushita had a very confused look on his face, and after a moment's silence, he muttered softly to himself, saying only, "No! You can't do that if you don't want to!" Then he remained silent again, and the audience laughed because they thought that Mr. Matsushita had answered the question incorrectly. I remember the scene vividly.

But at that very moment, I felt as if electricity had passed through my entire body. "You can't do it if you don't want to!" The words that Mr. Matsushita uttered as if muttering contained a million thoughts that y touched my heart.

"You can't do it if you don't want to!" This sentence, Mr. Matsushita wanted to convey the meaning of:

"You said you also want to make your own business have a margin, but how to do business to have a margin, the method is very different, your company must have a suitable practice for your company, so I can not teach you, but running a business absolutely must have a margin, you yourself must seriously think, this The first thing you need to do is to think seriously about it, and this 'thinking' is where it all starts.

That is, "If only it were possible!" With this level of, frivolous thoughts or wishes, it is simply impossible to reach high goals and realize ambitious ideals. There has to be room for maneuvering; are you thinking this way from the heart, truly? This is the key. If you truly think that way, you will do everything possible and think desperately about concrete solutions, and the reservoir will surely be built. This is what Mr. Matsushita was trying to say.

As I said before, "I have to do it anyway." If a person prays strongly, his "consciousness" will be translated into action, and he will naturally work toward the realization of his will. This is a very important part of the process, but it is a very important part of the process, and it is a very important part of the process.

It's not about being careless, it's about "Do it no matter what, no matter what!" "This is the way it has to be!" To achieve career success, the prerequisite is to have this strong and persistent desire.

With such a strong desire, the only thing left is to "put in as much effort as anyone else". The importance of effort is well known. In addition, if you ask: "Did you work hard?" Almost all of us would answer, "Yes, I tried".

However, an ordinary degree of effort, no matter how consistent you are, you are just putting in the same effort as an ordinary person; you are just doing what you take for granted. In that case, success is not assured. Only by putting in unusual and no lesser effort can you stand out from the competition and expect great results.

The phrase "work as hard as anyone else" is critical. If you want to make something happen at work, you have to put in endless effort. It is absolutely impossible to achieve great success without going above and beyond the call of duty.

So, people will inevitably misunderstand, as if "pay no less than anyone else's efforts" is a special thing, is a heavy topic, to make unlimited effort seems to be a harsh demand on ourselves. But this is not the case.

Looking at the natural world, no matter what animals, what plants, not in the desperate search for survival of the species does not exist. Only we human beings are evil-minded and greedy for enjoyment.

In early spring, I was walking around my house in Kyoto. In the cracks of the city wall, there was young grass coming out of the ground. When I came closer, I saw that there was only a little bit of soil between the cracks of the stones and the rocks, but in this pitifully small amount of soil, the grass desperately sucked in the spring sunshine and rain, and sprouted its young shoots.

After that, spring lasts only a few short weeks, during which the grass is robbed of the sun's bounty and hastily grows leaves, flowers, and seeds. If not, by the time summer arrives, the stone wall is exposed to the scorching sun, the temperature rises rapidly, and the grass dies. So in time for the summer heat, the grass must grow with all its might and desperation in order to leave behind its offspring and then wither away.

The same is true of the weeds that grow in the cracks of the asphalt and whose names are unknown. In the extreme lack of moisture, hellishly hot environment, a variety of weeds are struggling desperately to survive, hoping to get more sunlight than other weeds, in order to grow bigger, for this reason, they desperately expand the grass leaves, stretching grass stems, and compete for survival.

It's not about beating the competition, it's about surviving. This is how nature was originally formed; plants that don't fight to survive never exist, and grasses that don't try hard can't survive.

Animals are also the same, if they don't try to survive, they will go extinct, which is the iron rule of nature. Only we, human beings, talk about the need to "pay no less than anyone else's efforts", "to work hard", but feel very special, hard to accept.

This is not true! Not only do you have to work hard to be successful, but you also have to "work as hard as anyone" to survive. This is the law of nature.

Why did nature or God create the world according to this law? Other creatures have the instinct to "work as hard as anyone else". But we human beings have to rely on our own realization to understand this truth. I believe that we operators, in particular, must consciously realize that working hard is a mission given to us by God. This is linked to the fundamental question of "why do operators work? Therefore, I would like to address the question of the purpose of an operator's work.

When I was a young manager, I worked "as hard as anyone else", but at the same time, I felt that I was at a disadvantage in my role. The more I put my heart and soul into my work, the more openly and honestly I run my business, the more I feel that it's not cost-effective, and I'm afraid there's no job in the world where I don't get the same amount of work as I do. I really think so.
