What does gnss mean
GNSS means: Global Navigation Satellite System.
GNSS is a space-based radio navigation and positioning system capable of providing users with all-weather, three-dimensional coordinate, velocity, and time information anywhere on the Earth's surface or in near-Earth space.
The GNSS system consists mainly of a group of satellites that help the user in positioning by sending observations such as pseudo-range, ephemeris, and satellite launch time. When using the GNSS system for positioning, users also need to know their clock differential.
At present, GNSS systems have largely replaced ground-based radio navigation, traditional geodesy and astrometric navigation and positioning techniques, and have driven a whole new development in the field of geodesy and navigation and positioning. Globally, well-known GNSS systems include the Global Positioning System (GPS) of the United States, the GLONASS system of Russia, and the Beidou satellite navigation system of China.
Features of GNSS:
1, Global Coverage: GNSS consists of multiple satellites, which can cover any location in the world, and can receive satellite signals no matter where on the earth.
2, high-precision positioning: GNSS can provide high-precision positioning information, and its accuracy can reach meters or even centimeters, which is very important for some applications that require high-precision positioning.
3, a variety of applications: GNSS can be used not only for navigation and positioning, but also for time synchronization, geographic information systems, land surveying, scientific research and other fields.
4, strong compatibility: GNSS can be combined with other positioning technologies such as inertial navigation systems, map matching, etc. to improve positioning accuracy and stability.
5, real-time high: GNSS can provide real-time location information, which is very important for some applications that require real-time positioning, such as vehicle monitoring, traffic management.
