Does the world need a new luxury car brand? Check out the answer from Genesee.

The word "upstart" is rarely used in the automotive world because it's a mature market that's hard for newcomers to break into, and it's only in recent years that some of the newer car makers have broken the mold in some ways.

So it's logical to assume that the upstarts in the automotive world should be the newcomers, but Janissaries, from Hyundai, has a different answer.

Janissaries?

Speaking of the Janissaries, many readers may still have a confused look on their faces, so some brief explanations are in order. The company exists as a premium sub-brand of Hyundai, and you can think of it as a relationship between BMW and Rolls-Royce, or Mercedes-Benz and Maybach, but it's clear that it's not positioned as high as the two in the example.

Why the upstart?

Why would I call the Zenith a latecomer, or even a rare latecomer to a traditional automotive brand? The reason is quite simple: Janisys doesn't have a long history, having been founded at the end of 2015, it's only been around for five years now, but it's won awards that would make many established automakers envious.

Janissaries was founded as a luxury brand for the international market, but to fly you have to learn to walk, and Hyundai seems to understand that. In the beginning, it chose to start in the mature North American market. On the one hand, the North American market's car inventory is high enough to represent the pace of evolution of the global automotive market; on the other hand, the North American market's consumers are pragmatic enough to value the brand value of the automobile, as long as the product is good enough, it will have the space to survive.

Soon, after several years of hard work, Janisys has made achievements in the North American market. 2019, Janisys' new car sales in North America have increased by 105.9% year-on-year, which means that it is already far ahead of its competitors; in the 2020 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study of J.D. Power, Janisys surpassed Lexus to log on the In J.D. Power's 2020 U.S. Vehicle Reliability Study, the Janissaries surpassed Lexus at the top of the list, which is a bit of a shocker to me. When is it coming to China?

With all this talk of excellence, wouldn't it be a waste of conversation if we couldn't buy one? Don't worry. At the recently opened 2020 China International Import Expo, Janisys brought three models, the G90 Special Limited Edition Stardust, the G80, and the GV80.

First, let's talk about the G90 Special Limited Edition Stardust (hereinafter referred to as the G90 Limited Edition), which is based on the G90, which is the car that started it all. The G90 Limited Edition is based on the G90, which was originally the flagship model of Zenith's family, a large sedan positioned in the D-segment market. The Janissaries' family-style exterior design is highly recognizable, and the slinky styling has a very sporty car vibe. Inside, the interior is minimalist, but with a luxurious ambience, and the large areas of leather are its biggest killer feature.

Powertrain part, it is expected that the G80 will provide two power options, respectively, for the 2.5T four-cylinder turbocharged as well as 3.5T?V6 turbocharged, the maximum output power of 304 hp, 380 hp, the peak torque output of 421 Nm, 530 Nm, respectively, are matched with an 8-speed automatic transmission. It should be mentioned that the G80 is a front-engined rear-wheel-drive platform, which I think is a matter of concern for many potential buyers in the country.

How can you have an SUV if you want to gain a foothold in the Chinese market? The same Janissaries family design seems to show more temperament in this massive SUV, and some people even claim that it has so much of the same feeling as the Bentley Timbuktu. 3. Design. Obviously, the market is in need of freshness, consumers are also in need of freshness, and as it happens, design is the strength of the Korean brand.
