Existing factors of lead pollution

The main consumption areas of lead are batteries, cable sheaths, lead oxide and lead materials. The battery industry is a big consumer, with annual lead consumption exceeding 600,000 tons, accounting for about 80% of the total consumption.

(1) Primary lead smelting pollution has always been a difficult problem in lead smelting. The traditional pyrometallurgical lead smelting process of sintering roasting-blast furnace reduction smelting is a mature lead smelting method. However, the concentration of sulfur dioxide in the flue gas produced by this method is low, which is not easy to recover and will cause serious pollution to the atmosphere. Lead escaping during smelting will also pollute the production environment and atmosphere.

⑵ The pollution of recycled lead industry is another important factor of lead pollution. There are nearly 300 recycled lead plants in China, with production capacity ranging from tens of tons to thousands of tons, which are generally in a state of small scale, high energy consumption, heavy pollution and low recovery rate.

⑶ Backward technical equipment and scattered distribution are the primary causes of serious lead pollution, while poor management, local protection and weak public awareness of environmental protection have intensified the urgency of strengthening pollution control.
