Ma Lin is one of the high-level young figure painters I know. He is upright, honest, simple and calm. The characters in Marin's works are vivid and elegant. The paintings of Gao Shi, Luohan, Maid and urchin are novel in shape and meticulous in structure, and their expressions are either high-spirited, gloomy and contemplative, secluded and carefree, proud of the secular, indifferent to show their mistakes, or wandering in rivers and lakes and forgetting their machines. When appreciating the paintings of his characters, the viewers often unconsciously immerse themselves in them, as if they were facing an elderly person with profound knowledge and extraordinary wisdom, which is awe-inspiring. The painted cliffs, steep rocks, ancient trees and pavilions on the shore are like bamboo, indifferent, innocent and vast, which is the so-called small-scale atmosphere, making people enjoy themselves and get carried away, and its realm is beyond the times.

Ma Lin is one of the young painters who are proficient in Xuan paper and pen and ink. As the ancients said, vulgarity is easy to draw, clarity is rare, and painting is rare. Through years of training, Marin has integrated pen, ink, water, hand and heart with ease. His paintings are dribs and drabs, or clumsy or dyed, or straight or horizontal, and sometimes bold and splashing ink, the pen is long and snake-like, graceful and vigorous; Sometimes it is a slender line, vivid and subtle, like idle clouds in the sky, rolling freely, and the elegant air jumps from the paper.

While painting at his desk day and night, Marin paid special attention to the training of calligraphy. Although he is not a calligrapher, he has a profound understanding of calligraphy. The handwritten volume of Preface to Lanting, which he copied, can reflect his understanding, use delicate words and be familiar with the charm of the ancients. As the saying goes, calligraphy and painting are of the same origin, supported by years of good calligraphy training. His brushwork is vigorous and changeable, showing great vitality.

Calligraphy and painting take technique as the carrier and realm and style as the highest pursuit. Based on tradition, Ma Lin learned from the past without mud, learned from the past and learned from nature, and found a new way in the painting style of contemporary young painters, deducing a painting style with elegant style and noble character.
