Multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment (MDT) has become the norm in Europe and America. Even in 2007, Britain legislated that every cancer patient should receive MDT comprehensive treatment. "

To make a personalized diagnosis and treatment plan for patients is to make the diagnosis and treatment process centered on a patient and carry out multidisciplinary cooperation to standardize the diagnosis and treatment.

Modern medical technology is developing with each passing day. The bigger the hospital, the finer the classification of disciplines, and the more specialties and sub-specialties appear. Professional subdivision has advantages and disadvantages. The obvious advantage is that it can bring more professional diagnosis and treatment services to patients in a certain treatment field.

However, the shortcomings are also obvious. For example, doctors in different specialties are often only familiar with their own professional fields and do not know much about other fields, which is obviously not conducive to the comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of patients.

In the MDT model of pediatric neurosurgery, some intractable diseases are often encountered. At this time, in addition to children's neurosurgeons, we need to make a comprehensive evaluation with experts in pediatrics, internal medicine, imaging, pathology, radiotherapy and related disciplines, so as to formulate a scientific, reasonable and standardized treatment plan.

In MDT, every specialty has equal right to speak, but because of the different characteristics and emphases of a child's clinical cases, one or two specialties will have a greater impact on his medical plan.

Through discussion, experts in various sub-disciplines have reached an understanding of treatment, that is, what kind of treatment should be adopted first, then what kind of treatment should be adopted, or what kind of treatment should not be adopted, so as to provide "one-stop" service for children.

The change of MDT mode from "single arms" to "multi-arms" can minimize the misdiagnosis and mistreatment of patients, shorten the waiting time for diagnosis and treatment of patients, increase the selectivity of treatment programs, formulate the best treatment methods, and avoid the burden brought to children's families by continuous referral and repeated examination.

According to related research, after MDT model treatment, the five-year survival rate of patients with different tumors is significantly improved 15-40%. At the same time, MDT model significantly reduced the surgical mortality of different tumor treatments.
