The theme of Changyang Nanqu
Nanqu has a wide range of themes, mostly from the history, literature and opera of the previous generation. For example, in Romance of the Three Kingdoms, there are saviors such as Yong Ban, Ci Cao and Deng. In the water margin, there are fishing and killing family members, Song Wu killing his sister-in-law, and Song Jiang killing Xi. There are The West Chamber, Yu Pei and the Pipa. Nanqu is mostly short chapters, but there are no novellas or long ones. Most of the songs are about 50 sentences, and the longer ones, such as "Catch Pan" and "Forever Optimistic Lamp", are only about 200 sentences. The shortest is that the lyrics of "Seven and a Half Sentences" pay attention to neatness, mainly seven words, and different tunes have different lyrics formats, similar to Song Ci and Yuan Qu.
