1On the morning of September 27th, 2007, China Acrobats Association held a grand naming ceremony in the Great Hall of the People. Yongqiao District, Suzhou City, Anhui Province was officially awarded the title of "Hometown of Circus in China", becoming the first and only county in China to receive this honor. 2. Yongqiao Circus was formerly a folk acrobatic that began in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, and it had a considerable scale in the late Qing Dynasty. Since the 1920s, acrobatic celebrities have taken the lead in introducing animal performances such as horses, monkeys and dogs into performances in Gaogou, Taogou and Liugou in Yongqiao District, which are deeply loved by the audience. Later, they began to try to domesticate animals in the form of acrobatic performances, which soon received results. 3. By the end of 1930s, the performances such as bear standing, sheep pulling vases, monkey pulling carts, tiger drilling circles and dog counting were mature, and the real circus art in Yongqiao District was gradually formed.
