Introduction to acupuncture and moxibustion

Acupuncture is the general term for acupuncture. Acupuncture means that under the guidance of TCM theory, needles (usually millineedles) are inserted into patients at a certain angle, and acupuncture techniques such as twisting and lifting are used to stimulate specific parts of the human body, so as to achieve the purpose of treating diseases. Moxibustion is to cauterize and fumigate some acupoints on the body surface with prefabricated moxibustion pots or herbs, and to prevent and treat diseases by thermal stimulation. Usually wormwood is the most commonly used, so it is called moxibustion, and there are other methods such as medicinal moxibustion, wicker moxibustion, wick moxibustion, mulberry branch moxibustion and so on. Now people often use moxa stick moxibustion in their lives. Acupuncture consists of "acupuncture" and "moxibustion", which is one of the important components of oriental medicine. Its contents include acupuncture theory, acupoints, acupuncture techniques and related instruments. In the process of its formation, application and development, it has distinct Chinese culture and regional characteristics, and is a valuable heritage based on Chinese culture and scientific tradition. In 2006, Chinese Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine announced that acupuncture was included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list by the State Council.
