"Siberia" means "a quiet place" and its name comes from the Mongolian word "Xibaoluo" (a muddy place). In ancient times, Siberia was a muddy place. The Mongolian ancestors who lived here named it according to the terrain. When Russians came, it was transliterated as "Siberia", and some people thought that the name "Siberia" came from Xianbei people.

Siberia was inhabited long before the Stone Age. The last ice age was cold, so the water level was relatively low.
