The Story of Christmas

Christmas is an important traditional festival in the West. On this day, people usually give each other gifts, hold a feast, and also decorate the Christmas tree, prepare Christmas stockings, and wait for Santa Claus to come. There are a lot of stories about Christmas, and I've collected and organized some of them, so I'd like to know more about them.

Story 1: Santa Claus

The legend of Santa Claus comes from European folklore. According to legend, Santa Claus is called St. Nicholas, who lived in the 4th century A.D. and was a kind, generous and rich man who was very good to children. The Orthodox Church honors Nicholas as a miracle worker.

Nikolai's family was wealthy and his parents were both Catholics; Nikolai's parents died young, and he revealed all his possessions to poor . . people and joined the Church himself, serving the community for life. After his death, people called him a saint, an old white-bearded man in a red robe and a red hat.

Nicholas did many charitable works in his life, and he always liked to help poor people in secret. Santa Claus slowly became a popular name for him.

Story 2: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Rudolph was the only red-nosed reindeer among Santa's reindeer. This made him feel very embarrassed and the other reindeer laughed at him.

One Christmas Eve, Santa Claus was preparing to travel around the world delivering presents to children as usual. But a thick fog suddenly enveloped the land, and it was impossible to find a chimney in this weather. At this time Rudolph's red nose suddenly began to shine in the fog. So Santa brought Rudolph to the sleigh and they set off! Rudolph led Santa safely to every chimney. His red nose penetrated the fog like a lighthouse! It was Rudolph who saved Christmas that year.

This made Rudolph the most famous reindeer of all time, loved by all. His red nose, which once made him feel inferior, became a unique feature.

Story 3: The Origin of Christmas Stockings

Santa Claus is said to be the incarnation of St. Nicholas. He was kind and charitable and did many good deeds in his life. After his death, people missed him so much that Santa Claus became a favorite name for him.

It is said that he once secretly gave three bags of gold to the three daughters of a poor man as a dowry, and when he quietly threw the gold through the chimney opening, one bag happened to fall into a stocking drying on the fireplace. The next morning, the daughters woke up to find their stockings filled with gold, enough for their dowries. The nobleman was able to see his daughters married and lived happily ever after.

The custom of filling stockings with gifts for children was then passed down. To this day, innocent children solemnly hang their stockings over the fireplace on Christmas Eve and hopefully wait for Santa Claus to come in his reindeer-drawn sleigh from the snowy north to give them their gifts, as the legend tells.

Story 4: Santa's Village

It is said that there really is a Santa's Village in the world, where there are full-time Santas, each of whom needs to be professionally trained for his job. The Santas consider this profession as their life, and will be Santa Claus for the rest of their lives, and will never do another job. Along the North Pole Line, you'll find the world's only Santa Claus Village Post Office on the Arctic Circle. It is the busiest post office in Finland, and is said to receive hundreds of thousands of letters a year from more than 150 countries and regions around the world, with a guaranteed reply to every letter. Story 5: The Christmas Tree

Legend has it that a long time ago, on a snowy and windy Christmas Eve, a farmer hosted a hungry and cold child and gave her a hearty Christmas dinner. Later, when the child left, she broke a cedar branch and stuck it in the ground and blessed it, saying, "Every year on this day, the branches are full of gifts, and I will leave this beautiful cedar village to repay you for your kindness." After the child left, the farmer found that the branch had turned into a small tree, and he realized that he had received a messenger from God.

Now, in the West, every Christmas everyone will prepare a Christmas tree, used to increase the festive atmosphere. Christmas trees are usually made of evergreen trees such as cedar, symbolizing the longevity of life. The tree is decorated with a variety of lights and candles, colorful flowers, toys, stars, hanging a variety of Christmas gifts. On Christmas night, people sing and dance around the tree and enjoy themselves.

The above is the story of Christmas that I know, what other stories do you know, guys?
