Does anyone know about the calligraphy and theater paintings of the calligrapher Mr. Wang Chuan? Thank you!
One of the Seven Sons of Jian'an.
The character Zhongxuan.
Native of Gaoping, Shanyang (present-day Jinxiang County, Shandong Province).
Great-grandfather Wang Gong and ancestor Wang Chang, both of whom were ranked among the three dukes.
Father Wang Qian was the chief historian of General He Jin.
Wang Ch'en was a talented young man and was recognized by the famous scholar Cai Yong.
When Wang Chuan was a young man, he was recognized by the famous scholar Cai Yong.
When he was seventeen years old, he was appointed as the Yellow Door Attendant by imperial decree. At that time, when Dong Zhuo was newly executed, his party, Li and Guo Si, were in rebellion in Chang'an.
Wang Chuan lived in Jingzhou for 16 years, but Liu Biao was not very happy with his appearance, and his body was weak, so he didn't use him very much.
In the fall of the thirteenth year of Jian'an (208), Cao Cao's southern expedition to Jingzhou led to Charm's persuasion of Liu Biao's son, Liu Chong, to surrender his state.
In the 18th year of Jian'an (213), the state of Wei was established and he was appointed as a minister.
In the winter of the twenty-first year of Jian'an (216), he accompanied the army to conquer Wu, and in the spring of the following year, he died of illness on the way back to Yecheng.
Wang Ch'ung was an intelligent man, with a strong memory and a discerning tongue.
Wang Chuan was an expert in mathematics and chess, and was especially familiar with the rules and rituals of the previous generations.
In Wei, he was mostly involved in the court's deliberations and the formulation of the system, and the "Ode to the Imperial Temple" was written by Wang Ch'ung.
He thought highly of himself, and in his essay "Imitation of Lianzhu," he implicitly compared himself to Guan Zhong, and emphasized that, although the emperor was a wise man, he could not help the world if he was not a good minister.
His political thought was basically Confucian, but also mixed with the jurisprudence of criminal names, and he believed that in order to achieve the rule of the world, it was necessary for the officials to serve the elegant training, and for the Confucians to understand the grammar,
Broad and fierce, and rigid and soft (The Discourse of the Confucian Officials).
He also accepted some of the influence of Taoism, such as in the Treatise on the Security of the Body, which attributed the stability of society and the security of the individual to the lack of desire, that is, to enter the path of Huanglao.
Wang Chuan was quite trusted by Cao Cao, and among the Seven Sons of Jian'an, he had the highest political status, being the only one to be granted a vassal.
His relationship with Cao Pi and Cao Zhi was also quite close, and he wrote poems and songs during his lifetime, and after his death, when Cao Pi was in mourning, Cao Zhi wrote a eulogy for Wang Zhongxuan, saying that I was with my husband,
Yi Guan Danqing, and the qin and sepals,
split over the friends, which is a glimpse of the friendship between them.
Wang Ch'ung valued the social utility of literature, that literature is the first of the relevant human relationships, the basis of the great teachings ("Jingzhou Literature Records Official Zhi") of a cause.
In terms of creative writing, his accomplishments were relatively outstanding among the literati of Yecheng.
Liu Fo said: Zhongxuan overflowing talent, quick and can be dense, more good literature, rhetoric less flawed tired, picking its poetry, fugue, then the crown of the Seven Sons of Yu (Wenxin DiaoLong Talent Strategy) consistent with his life path, Wang Chuan's literary activities,
can be roughly divided into the before and after the two periods, the division of the borderline is the thirteen years of Jian'an subordinate to Cao.
Previously, he lived a life of exile in Jingzhou, where he experienced war and disaster, and was denied the opportunity to show his ambition for a long time. The feeling of worrying about the country and the people were entangled with the indignation of not being able to realize his talent,
which made his works of literature shrouded in a layer of sadness and resentment.
Later in his life, when he was in Cao Cao's office, he was inspired by the unification of the vast northern region on the one hand, and by the confidence he gained from holding an important official position on the other,
So the tone of his writing changed again to one of excitement and exuberance.
The 23 surviving poems of Wang Ch'ung include two genres: quatrain and quintrain.
The four-character poems were mainly written in the early stage of his career, including "Gift to Shih Sun Wen Shi" and "Poem on Thinking of Family", which mostly express his sad and bitter feelings.
The five-character poems are more numerous and have higher achievements, including three poems of Seven Sorrows and five poems from the Army.
The seven poems of lamentation were composed in the early period, the first of which was made by the poet on his way from Guanzhong to Jingzhou to avoid the chaos.
It is based on the fact of personal experience as the subject matter, specific description of the end of the Han Dynasty war to the country, to the people caused by the deep suffering, the poem out of the door nothing to see,
white bones cover the plains and so on lines,
True to summarize the tragedy of this era, which is about the starving women abandoned their children, but also conveyed the atmosphere of the society at that time is bleak.
This poem was written five years before Cao Cao's Artemisia, and is the earliest poem to reflect the war and chaos at the end of the Han Dynasty.
The poem was written in the later part of the Han Dynasty. The first poem is about the western expedition to Guan Rou, and the second, third, fourth, and fifth poems are about the eastern expedition to Sun Quan, in which it is said that there is bitterness and happiness in the army, but the question of who one is from is warmly sung in praise of Cao Cao's conquests, and at the same time, it also expresses the poet's political aggressiveness.
Overall, Wang Chuan's poetry is characterized by lyricism, and it has been commented that he is superior in sentiment (Liu Xizai, "The Art of Poetry"), while his diction is more beautiful.
Liu Innocenti puts him in the same category as Cao Zhi,
saying that he is both good at both, Zijian and Zhongxuan (Ming Poetry of the Wenxin Diao Long).
Wang Ch'ung's fugues, of which more than 20 exist today, are short and mostly in the form of a tao.
The most popular one is "The Fugue of Ascending a Building", which was written during the period of living in Jingzhou.
It abandons the traditional writing style of Han Fu, and uses concise and clear phrases to express his concern for the world, his nostalgia for his hometown, and his warm hope for a peaceful and prosperous world, as well as his strong feelings about his own difficult experiences.
The close combination of landscape writing and lyricism in the poem is one of its major artistic features.
In the process of the development of lyrical fugue, this piece of work has an important position.
Wang Ch'ung's prose was more successful with his "Book for Liu Jingzhou to Admonish Yuan Tan" and "Book for Liu Jingzhou and Yuan Shang", which he composed for Liu Biao.
The book persuades the Yuan brothers not to fight against each other, but to unite to fight against the invasion, not only by reasoning, but also by emotion, and it is written in a long-winded manner (Zhang Pu's "Inscription to the Collection of Wang Zhongzhong"), with a lot of emotion.
Sui-shu Jingji Zhi recorded 11 volumes of Wang Ch'an set, 3 volumes of the collection of the theory of the go-far, 10 volumes of the end of the Han heroes, all anonymous.
The Ming dynasty Zhang Pu has a collection of "Wang Zhongzhong set" in 1 volume, which is included in the "Han, Wei, six dynasties, one hundred and three collections"
