The meaning of altar
The altar usually consists of three layers, with the base at the bottom and the offering shelf and shrine at the top. The pedestal is generally made of wood, while the altar and shrine are made of porcelain, bronze or wood carving.
There will be various statues of gods and ancestors on the altar, such as Guan Gong, Emperor Wenchang, Land Tribute, etc. At the same time, flowers, incense burners, incense wax, fruits, tea, candy and other offerings will be placed to show respect and gratitude, and at the same time, I hope that the gods can protect the family's safety and smoothness.
On traditional festivals or special occasions in China, such as Lunar New Year, Tomb-Sweeping Day, and July 30th, people will pay more attention to the sacrificial ceremony on the altar, thinking that it can better pray for the blessing and protection of the gods.
