If you are in Thailand, don't covet temporary convenience, don't take off your shoes and step on the threshold. Because in the traditional Thai concept, there are gods under the threshold.

Thais believe in God. Thais believe that the gods are here to protect them, so they must respect the gods and can't do anything that doesn't respect them. Stepping on the threshold is the biggest disrespect to the gods, so you must be careful not to step on the threshold in Thailand.

Some people think it's okay to step on the threshold. Stepping on the threshold is only a moment, and the gods will not blame it. However, in the eyes of Thais, this is a big deal. We not only ask ourselves to abide by the principled things we insist on, but also hope that the other party can respect and abide by their local culture and principles.

It is quite impolite to step on the threshold and enter the door. Thais will think you are rude and don't even follow the basic etiquette.
