Yu le's introduction

Zhenfeng Buyi folk musical instrument music friend is a traditional folk musical instrument created by Buyi people. Musician was originally called "Musician", but because this instrument sounds like suona, it uses cicadas as insect whistles to make insects sing a long song, so everyone calls it "Musician". Later, it gradually became a medium for Buyi youth to talk about love, so it was also called "Leyou" or "Leyou".

Leyou is deeply rooted in the life of Buyi people and passed down from generation to generation. Leyou is a vertical double-reed musical instrument for Buyi people. Shaped like a suona, there is no bowl, and there is a worm whistle playing on it. It can be solo or accompanied, and it is popular in the vast areas of southwest Guizhou.

Leyou's tube is made of wood, with a total length of about 45 cm. There are five or six sound holes in front. An intruder made of a thin bamboo tube is inserted at the upper end of the tube. A special insect whistle was placed on the intruder, and a trumpet made of bamboo tube was installed at the lower end of the pipe body.

The insect whistle is made from the cocoon of Sophora japonica, Huangguoshu or Olive tree. Cut off both ends, take out the pupa, soak it in tung oil, take it out to dry after shrinking, and use it with a little pruning.
