Brief introduction of access gateway

The AG is placed on the access side of the data network of the community or enterprise, and the AG or IAD interacts with the softswitch through MGCP/H.248 protocol to realize the call control of the softswitch to users. At the same time, AG realizes the media gateway functions such as voice codec (converting analog voice into IP packets), media stream packing and compression, mute detection, basic playback, signal reception, etc., and realizes the media stream interoperability between POTS users and other users. When there are many users and twisted-pair resources in an area, the application of AG has a very high cost performance.

Adopt AG as the access mode. It is suitable for occasions with large capacity and concentrated users, such as voice access in dense communities and enterprises. As a local device, AG is easy to manage and maintain, but its downlink only has twisted-pair interface. For occasions or operators with only five types of line resources, its application is limited. It is necessary to set up a distribution frame in the computer room, and cooperate with a number of LanSwitch and other equipment to complete a user's access to five types of lines.
