What is the principle of the traditional method of wearing rubber strips on car tires
This method is fairly primitive. It is based on the principle of using a pointed tool such as an awl to enlarge the hole of the breakage, and then filling the hole with a rubber strip coated with glue. It's simple to do, costs very little, takes very little time, and doesn't require dismantling the tire hub for dynamic balancing. The disadvantages are obvious. Enlarging the hole with an awl enlarges the damaged area. At the same time this way of patching tires is not very durable, easy to leak.
Advocates the following situations: tires can not be repaired:
1. Sidewalls can not be repaired.
2. If the diameter of the hole penetrated by the crown is more than 6mm, it cannot be repaired.
3. If the tire bead is damaged or deformed, the tread is deformed, the rubber is corroded by chemicals, or the tire is damaged by air pressure crushing.
4. Other abnormalities cannot be repaired. For example, if you can see signs of driving under air from the tire (e.g., roll marks on the sidewalls, blisters on the inner liner, etc.) , it's not worth repairing because the tire structure may have been damaged beyond further use.
