The Three Sources of the Origin of Logic

Logic has a history of more than 2,000 years, and has three origins, namely, ancient China, ancient India and ancient Greece.

Logic doctrines called "ningxue" and "dialectics" were developed during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods in China. Xunzi - the correct name, especially the "Mojing" set of its great, systematic study of the name, rhetoric, say, defense and other equivalent to the words, propositions, reasoning and argumentation and other objects, logical thought is very rich, but due to a certain amount of political and moral theory mixed together, failed to form an independent system of disciplines.

The ancient Indian doctrine of logic is known as "In Ming", "cause" means the basis of reasoning, reason; "Ming" means knowledge, wisdom. Chenna's "Inming Zhengli Menchuan" and Lord Shankara's "Inming Renzheng Theory" are its representatives, such as the reasoning from the form of the discussion, put forward the "three branches of thesis". However, even for the Buddhist service of the cause of Ming has not been able to put aside the specific content of thinking and rise to the mathematical form of science.

Ancient Greek scholars conducted a more comprehensive study of logic, forming an independent systematic theory. Aristotle's six treatises on logic were collected into the Theory of Instruments, which established the first logical system of lexical items in history, and Aristotle was regarded as the "father of logic" by Westerners.

After Aristotle, the Stoics studied the logic of propositions. It is different from Aristotelian logic, but like Aristotelian logic, it belongs to the same system of deductive logic, and together they are the most important components of traditional logic.
