The bones of the Shang Dynasty have not yet occupied an important position in the study of Shang culture. However, if we rethink the bones from another angle, we will find that it also played a very important role in the life of merchants. The Shang Dynasty was the era in which bone artifacts played the greatest role and had the richest significance. Bone tools of the Shang Dynasty could also be used in agriculture. Bone shovels made of scapulae could be used to turn over the soil, and bone shafts could be cut, but such bone implements used as production tools were rarely unearthed.

Deer, tiger, tortoise, autumn and some other figures also have turquoise inlaid on their eyes, ears, nose, body and round carvings. Among the finished bone artifacts of the Shang and Zhou periods, carved bone plates were the most exquisite, and bone hairpins, bone daggers, and bone arrowheads were the most refined. A large number of bone hairpins were unearthed. There were more than 400 pieces in just one wooden box in the Fuhao Tomb. The bone hairpins and hairpin caps used by aristocratic women were carved with various patterns, some of which were inlaid with turquoise.
