Are there any movies or serials about Japanese cuisine?
The Antarctic Cuisine is a 125-minute comedy film distributed by Tokyo Theater Co. It was released on August 8, 2009 in Japan, directed by Shuichi Okita and starring Masato Sakai, Katsuhisa Ikuse, Kanji Furutate, Kobayashi Toyohara, and Kengo Takara.
The film is based on the essay collection "Interesting Antarctic Cooks" by Jun Nishimura, and tells the story of the lives of eight members of a Japanese Antarctic expedition in the polar regions.
Not even bacteria, let alone living things, can survive in the icy Antarctic Dome Fuji Base. A few observation team members live there, and Jun Nishimura's job is to cook for the team every day. Nishimura is happier than anything else when he can make a delicious meal with the occasional luxury ingredient and a bit of work, and watch everyone's happy faces as they eat.
In faraway Japan, Nishimura has a wife, an eight-year-old daughter and a son who was born recently. When he suddenly remembers his family, he feels the urge to cry. It's been a year and a half since he arrived in the cold, 14,000 kilometers from his family, and the work continues.
The observers have been working hard in Antarctica and have built an irreplaceable bond with each other. In the days of laughter, sadness, joy and anger, delicious food always brings energy. In the extreme cold, the food brings warmth to the heart.

An ordinary citizen of Tokyo, Japan, who, like all husbands, enjoys only what his wife serves him, and is both fussy and indifferent about the cuisine. Originally a maritime security officer, he never imagined that he would be sent to Antarctica to cook.
