Why camp education is the best education parents can give their children

I read a book on camp education at QIC, and the one in there had an answer to this question that I thought I'd share.

"Camp means something different to every child, whether it's the activities, the environment, the personal growth, the facilities, the staff or the friendships. Summer camps require children to spend long periods of time away from home in a group setting, and because of this camps allow children to grow quickly.

Camp is not a school; camp is a fun factory. Experienced camp instructors know how to create fun activities within the constraints of the available facilities. A good instructor can get kids interested in organizing their housekeeping and cleaning up their dishes. Camps provide children with excellent opportunities to refine skills they already have or to challenge themselves in unfamiliar areas and learn new skills. Children learn to get along better with others and gain the confidence to solve new social problems and challenges independently. The sense of responsibility that camp gives them develops a sense of self-motivation. And a good residential camp teaches children to respect nature and develops their curiosity about it.

If that's not reason enough for kids to love it, camps also offer outdoor sports that most kids don't have access to at home or at school. Plus, they have the opportunity to make new friends in a relaxed environment where the adult role is to keep the kids entertained. A good camp is a child's paradise. Residential camps also offer a true group living experience away from home, which is what makes them unique. Both residential and day camps can be wonderful, life-changing experiences for children."
