Tujia customs and habits

Tujia nationality is a nation with a long history, mainly distributed in Wuling mountain area at the junction of Hunan, Hubei, Chongqing and Guizhou. Tujia people call themselves the "White Tiger Queen" and regard the White Tiger as the ancestor god. There are white tigers carved in every ancestral temple all the year round, and they never forget to offer them everywhere.

Tujia people's daily staple food is camp food, rice and so on. And the food is mainly hot and sour. In terms of clothing, Tujia people are frugal and like to be loose, and the traditional materials are mostly blue-green homespun or linen.

Tujia traditional houses mainly include thatched houses and adobe houses. Tujia marriage is relatively free. After both men and women fall in love freely, they can get married with the consent of both parents and witnessed by ten teachers. In terms of funeral, Tujia people used to be cremated many times. Tujia people have many taboos, for example, adult men and women are forbidden to sit on the bench: they are not allowed to use pedal fire pits and tripods to avoid blasphemy.

Language, the scholar family has its own "language", Tujia language belongs to Sino-Tibetan Tibeto-Burman language family, and its branches are uncertain. Because most people have lived with the Han nationality for a long time, they began to use Chinese and Chinese very early. Only Yongshun, Longshan, Guzhang and other inhabited areas in Hunan have completely preserved ten languages. This nation has no written language, and Chinese is widely used.

Clothing, the upper family women's clothing is a short coat with big sleeves, the left coat is open, 2~3 layers of lace are rolled, and the hemmed trousers: men's clothing is a double-breasted coat.
