What are the main types of regional accents in American English?
southern, new york and regular
Southern accent, Texas, Alabama, Louisiana, Kansas, Georgia, Tennessee, etc. (Characteristics: very curly, some sounds are very long). (Characteristics: Very rolled tongue, some sounds are very long. But it sounds and feels lightly cut.)
New York (Characteristics: very distinctive "oh" sound)
Other accents sound pretty much the same, not much different. Some colloquialisms may vary from place to place, though.
