The difference between cableway and cable car

There are some differences between them in technical construction and usage scenarios.

Cableway: Cableway usually refers to the transportation system with steel wire rope as the carrier, including but not limited to aerial ropeway, freight ropeway, passenger ropeway, etc. It is mainly used to transport passengers, goods or equipment. Cableway can cross valleys, rivers, lakes and oceans. It has the characteristics of long driving distance, strong bearing capacity and adaptability to complex terrain conditions. Cableways generally include load-bearing cables, traction cables, slings (such as hanging baskets, hanging chairs, hanging boxes, etc. ) and other parts, passengers or goods are suspended on the ropeway through the spreader to move.

Cable car: Cable car is a device specially used to carry passengers in the cable car system. Usually refers to the passenger transport facilities that run along the fixed ropeway line and go up and down the peaks in tourist attractions. Common forms are open hanging chair and closed hanging box. In some cases, the cable car can also refer to the suspended vehicles used in the city, such as the cable car in San Francisco, which is a kind of urban public transport pulled by underground cables, but this type of cable car is very different from the cable car system.
