Little intangible cultural heritage knowledge: Which traditional boxing technique in my country was created by imitating the long arms of apes?

Xingyiquan was created after the long arms of an ape.

1. Xingyiquan, also known as Xingyiquan, Xinyiquan and Xinyiliuhequan, is one of the traditional martial arts in my country. It originated from Yue Fei's "Yuejiaquan" and was founded by Ji Jike in Taigu, Shanxi Province in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. Xingyiquan imitates the agile, flexible and adaptable body skills of apes in the mountains and the telescopic strength of the ape's arms, creating a set of movements that are image-oriented, follow nature, and have both form and spirit, hence the name Xingyiquan.

2. The characteristics of Xingyiquan are neat and compact movements, substantial strength, rapid and violent power, and strong impact force. The basic techniques include "chicken legs, tiger waist, dragon body, bear back, bee sting, butterfly wings, snake walking and deer leaping" etc. Representatives of Xingyiquan include Dai, Ji, Che, etc. Xingyiquan is widely spread and is one of the outstanding traditional sports with national characteristics.

3. There are six basic techniques of Xingyiquan, including chicken legs, tiger waist, dragon body, bear back, bee sting, and butterfly wings. Among them, "Chicken Legs" requires stable footwork and eight-sided support; "Tiger Waist" emphasizes waist strength; "Dragon Body" emphasizes body coordination and overall cooperation; "Bear Back" emphasizes back strength; and "Bee Sting" requires movement. Swift and flexible; "Butterfly Wings" requires both arms to shake like butterfly wings to increase the power of the punch.

4. The practice method of Xingyiquan is very unique, including slow practice and fast practice. Slow training focuses on the cultivation of internal strength and the mastery of basic techniques, while fast training emphasizes the improvement of speed and explosive power. At the same time, Xingyiquan also focuses on "leading the Qi with the mind and urging the force with the Qi", emphasizing the coordination of breathing and movements.

How to warm up for boxing

1. Neck movement: Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, look forward, close your lips slightly, touch your tongue to the roof of your mouth, relax your shoulders, elbows, and wrists, let your arms droop naturally, and breathe naturally. Make a flat circular motion with the middle position of the bottom of the jaw as the reference point, from left to right, and then from right to left again, at least three times each time, trying to relax the neck without exerting force.

2. Shoulder movement: The standing posture is the same as above. Use the middle of the outer sides of the shoulders as the reference point to perform vertical circular movements, rotate forward and backward three times each, and at the same time relax your elbows and wrists to let them droop naturally. Straight punch: Standing, facing the target, arms and shoulders in a straight line, the order of force is from legs - waist - shoulders - punch, target: jaw, ribs, nose.
