The Battle of Hengshan Mountain in Beiyue Temple

Since the pre-Qin period, Mount Hengshan in Beiyue is now fairy mountain (damao mountain) in Fuping. There were two temples in the Han Dynasty, Quyang as the lower temple and Shangmiao at the foot of the mountain. At the end of Jin Dynasty, the sixteen states of Shijingtang Youyun belonged to Qidan, with damao mountain as the boundary, and the temple on Hengshan Mountain was destroyed. After Quyang, Xiamiao became the place where Hengshan Mountain was worshipped in the past dynasties, and it was constantly expanding. The temple on Mount Heng failed to recover. Hengshan Temple and Mountain were separated, Quyang in Jin Dynasty was divided into Fuping, and damao mountain was returned to Fuping. Administratively, Hengshan Mountain and Hengshan Temple are separate.

In the middle and late Ming Dynasty, Hunyuan took advantage of the destruction of the cultural landscape on Hengshan Mountain, and when the temple and mountain were separated, the theory of flying stones became popular. The source of flying stones is attached to Xuanwu Mountain, and Zhang and other legends are forged, posing as Hengshan Mountain in Hunyuan, so there is a dispute over Hengshan Mountain. Regarding the place of sacrifice, some people advocate Quyang, while others advocate Hunyuan. Once upon a time, the majestic Beiyue lost its accurate geographical position of worship. Finally, Hengshan Sacrifice was moved to Hunyuan during Shunzhi period.

Qiao Yu's Travels of Mount Hengshan believed that Mount Hengshan was in Hunyuan, which shows that many Shanxi literati believed that Mount Hengshan was in Hunyuan in the middle of Ming Dynasty. Before Hengshan Mountain, it had nothing to do with Hunyuan, and there was no historical evidence to prove that Hunyuan had something to do with Hengshan Mountain.

After the establishment of Hengshan Mountain in Hunyuan in Qing Dynasty, the Beiyue Temple was not disputed by the imperial court, but it was not recognized by Hebei cultural circles. Quyang properly protected Beiyue Temple and repaired it many times. Sacrifices to damao mountain in Fuping, Tangxian and Laiyuan in Hebei Province have never stopped, and temple fairs are still going on. Quyang, Fuping, Tangxian and other local chronicles, Zhengding, Baoding, Jifu Tongzhi and so on. It is recorded that damao mountain is as old as Beiyue. It can be seen that after the Qing government changed worship, Hebei cultural circles always insisted that Mount Hengshan (damao mountain) was in Fuping and the temple was in Quyang. Moreover, there are no ancient characters in the records, and it is not called Guhengshan Gubeiyue.
