Is the lunar calendar lunar or solar?
Lunar Calendar. The lunar calendar is the traditional calendar of China, also known as the lunar calendar. However, the lunar calendar is not purely lunar, and a kind of yin and yang combined calendar, its year is divided into flat year and leap year, flat year for 12 months, leap year for 13 months.
There is a difference between the lunar and the lunisolar calendars, with a difference of about eleven days per year compared to the solar calendar. The lunar calendar also divides the year into twenty-four solar terms according to the position of the sun, which makes it easier to organize agricultural production. Therefore, the twenty-four solar terms come from the Lunar Calendar, not the Lunar Calendar. However, except for the Qingming Festival, all other traditional Chinese festivals are set according to the lunar calendar. Therefore, the traditional Chinese calendar is a kind of yin-yang calendar that combines the solar calendar and the lunar calendar.
Expanded Information
In China, the lunar calendar is a calendar used in parallel with the Gregorian calendar, which is generally referred to as the lunisolar calendar, but it is actually a type of yin and yang calendar, not the lunisolar calendar, which is a calendar based on the cycle of the moon phases.
In fact, the name "lunar calendar" is the result of the so-called "Four Olds" during the Cultural Revolution, which is not very accurate, and the accurate name should be the Chinese calendar, which uses the method of setting up intercalary months and 24 festivals to make the average length of the calendar year equal to the year of return, and so it has the components of the solar calendar.
The first month of the lunar calendar is known as the first month, and November and December are known as the winter month and the waxing moon, respectively, but nowadays the winter month is seldom used, in fact, each month of the lunar calendar has a different alias.
