What is the traditional Children's Day?

According to the traditional custom, the second day of the Lunar New Year is the day when the daughter goes home and the son-in-law pays New Year greetings to her parents-in-law. It is usually called Children's Day and Wedding Day.

But what many people don't know is that the second day is also called "Dog Day" in Six Livestock Day.

Why is it called "dog day"

From about the Eastern Han Dynasty, the chronology of trunk and branch was widely used. Twelve ten-year-old cadres, namely A, B, D, E, G, N, N and G, namely Zi Chou Yin Mao and Tatsumi applied at noon, forming 60 organizations, commonly known as Sixty Jia Zi.

In folk customs, there are ten kinds of animals corresponding to the twelve earthly branches, namely rats, ugly cows, silver tigers, hairy rabbits, dragons, snakes, afternoon horses, sheep, monkeys, chickens, dogs and pigs.

According to legend, when Nu Wa made everything, she made six animals first, so from the first day to the sixth day, there were six kinds of raw animals.

Chickens are made on the first day, so the first day is called "Chicken Day" and dogs are made on the second day, so the second day is called "Dog Day".

Why did Nu Wa create the chicken on the first day?

Since ancient times, people think that dragons and phoenixes are not only auspicious things, but also sacred symbols, and the closest thing on earth is the chicken, so Nu Wa created the chicken on the first day.

Then why did you create a dog the next day?

Although many people now often bring "dogs" when swearing, in ancient times, people attached great importance to dogs and regarded them as auspicious animals from heaven, because people thought dogs were symbols of loyalty and courage.

According to ancient records, there was a loyal dog named "Huang Er" who was exhausted to deliver letters to his master. There is also a record in Sou Shen Ji that there is a black dragon dog. Once the owner was drunk and met with a fire, the black dragon dog tried its best to protect the owner and finally saved the owner.

Secondly, the ancients also thought that dogs represented wealth and could ward off evil spirits.

For example, when a dog comes home, it means that wealth has come.

And before an earthquake occurs in a certain place, dogs will bark abnormally, which is considered as a sign to remind people of the coming disaster.

Although today, these are just people's little knowledge of nature, some customs have remained.

For example, because dogs symbolize wealth, there is still the custom of offering sacrifices to the god of wealth on the second day of the Lunar New Year.

Everyone will offer sacrifices to the God of Wealth, and then offer offerings to pray for good luck in the new year.

Sacrifice pays attention to the "five major sacrifices", namely, whole pig, whole sheep, whole chicken, whole duck and red carp. Although there are no "five major sacrifices" now, the custom of worshipping the god of wealth has always been preserved.

In addition, on the second day of the Lunar New Year, I went back to my parents' house.

For example, avoid returning home empty-handed.

Traditionally, a daughter can't go back to her parents' home alone. The so-called yes-men should also bring gifts in pairs, which means double happiness.

Secondly, this day is not suitable for washing clothes.

Because it is said that the second day of the first day is the birthday of the water god, it is not appropriate to wash clothes.

After Nu Wa created chickens and dogs, what did she create on the third day? What is the pressure?
