Familiar names such as Sanzang and Wukong are used once again, but in The Most Traveled Journey the image of the characters of the Chinese classic Journey to the West is completely changed. The characters are modern in their speech, clothing, and behavior. The only thing that makes it easier to accept are the battles with the demons (which are of course changed in image). Kazuya Minekura's drawings are excellent and add a lot of color to this work.

63. The Sneaky Detective Han Hanyu Ryo By Kitajoji

Leave the word XYZ on the message boards at Shinjuku Station and you'll find the famous private detective Han Hanyu Ryo and his partner, Makimura Kaoru. In the course of one difficult and dangerous mission after another, the distinctive personalities of each character come to life, and many of the episodes have become classics for manga fans. This is the perfect expression of Kitaoji's style, and it's a masterpiece!

64. Peacock King by Makoto Ogino

After a series of demon-busting stories, the center of the story is the fateful battle between the protagonist Peacock King and the King of the Heavenly Serpents. Although the ending is a bit of a cliffhanger, it's a good one overall. In fact, more than the traditional storyline, it's Ogino's personalized, gorgeous and brutal drawing style that is the most appealing element.
