1, the Spring Festival

In ancient China, there was a monster called "year", head long tentacles, fierce and unusual. "It lived on the bottom of the sea for many years, and only climbed ashore on New Year's Eve to devour livestock and hurt people. Therefore, every New Year's Eve, the people of villages and hamlets fled to the mountains to avoid the harm of the beast.

One New Year's Eve, a begging old man came from outside the village and told people the way to drive away the "New Year" beast. It turned out that the New Year was afraid of the color red, fire and explosions. Since then every year on New Year's Eve, families stick red couplets, firecrackers; household candles brightly, to keep the night. Early in the morning on the first day, but also to visit friends and relatives to say hello. This custom has become more and more widespread, and has become the grandest traditional festival of Chinese folklore.

2, Lantern Festival

Legend has it that the Lantern Festival was set up to commemorate the "Ping Lu" during the reign of Emperor Wen of Han Dynasty. After the death of Liu Bang, the founder of the Han Dynasty, Liu Ying, the son of Empress Lu, ascended the throne as Emperor Hui of the Han Dynasty. Emperor Hui was weak and indecisive, and the power gradually fell into the hands of Empress Lu. After the death of Emperor Hui of the Han Dynasty, the Empress Lu took control of the government and turned Liu's world into Lu's world. The senior officials of the court and Liu's clansmen were y indignant, but they were all afraid of the Empress Lu's brutality and dared not speak out.

After the illness and death of Empress Lu, all of them were afraid of being harmed and ostracized. After the rebellion was quelled, Liu Heng, the second son of Liu Bang, was crowned Emperor Wen of the Han Dynasty. Emperor Wen was so impressed by the hard-won peace that he designated the 15th day of the first month of the lunar calendar, the day when the "Zhulu Rebellion" was quelled, as a day of joy for the people, and every house in the capital was decorated with lanterns and colors to celebrate the occasion. Since then, the 15th day of the first month has become a folk festival celebrated by all the people - the "Lantern Festival".

During the reign of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, the worship of the god Taichi was scheduled for the 15th day of the first lunar month. (Taiyi: the god who dominates everything in the universe). When Sima Qian created the "Taichu Calendar", the Lantern Festival was already recognized as a major festival.

3, Chongyang Festival

Legend has it that during the Eastern Han Dynasty, there was a plague in the River Ru, and as long as it appeared, people would fall ill in every household, and even people died every day, and the people in this area suffered from the plague's ravages, which was terrible to see. At that time, there was a young man named Hengjing in Runan County, one year the plague took away his parents, and he himself almost lost his life. After he recovered from the disease, he left his beloved wife and relatives, and resolved to go out to visit the immortals and learn the art of ridding the people of the plague.

Hengjing finally found an immortal in an ancient mountain, who was touched by his spirit of removing evils for the people and decided to take him as his disciple, gave him a sword to subdue evils and taught him the art of subduing evils in a secret way. Hengjing was sleepless, practicing day and night, and finally developed an extraordinary martial art.

One day, the immortal called Hengjing to him and said, "Tomorrow is the ninth day of the ninth month, and the plague demon will come out to do evil again, now that your skill has been learned, you should go back to do away with evil for the people!" . At this time, the immortal gave Hengjing a packet of cornelian cherry leaves, a bottle of chrysanthemum wine, and gave him the secret of avoiding evil spirits, so that Hengjing could immediately ride the immortal crane and rush back home.

Hengjing returned to his hometown, and on the morning of September 9, he led the townspeople to a nearby mountain as the immortal had instructed, and gave each person a piece of cornelian cherry leaf and a cup of chrysanthemum wine. At noon, the winds howled furiously, the north wind suddenly rose, the sky was dark, and with a few mournful roars, the plague demon rushed out of the River Ru and swooped down to the mountain.

Just then, the plague demon suddenly smelled the strange flavor of cornelian cherry and the mellow aroma of chrysanthemum wine, his face suddenly changed, shivered and did not dare to move forward. After several rounds of fierce struggle, Hengjing stabbed the demon to death and eliminated the plague. Later on, people regarded ascending to the heights on the Chongyang Festival as an activity to avoid disasters and calamities.

4, Mid-Autumn Festival

Ancient times there are ten days in the sky at the same time, sunburned crops withered, the people do not want to live, a hero named Hou Yi, great strength, he sympathized with the suffering people, pull open the bow, shot down more than nine suns in one breath, and strictly order the last sun to rise and fall on time for the benefit of the people. Hou Yi's wife's name was Chang'e. Hou Yi spent his days with his wife, except when he was hunting. A lot of people came to learn from Hou Yi, and the evil-minded Peng Meng also got involved.

One day, Hou Yi went to the Kunlun Mountains to visit his friends, and asked the Queen Mother for a packet of immortality medicine. It was said that by taking this medicine, one could instantly ascend to heaven and become immortal. However, Hou Yi could not leave his wife behind, and temporarily gave the medicine to Chang'e to treasure. Chang'e hid the medicine in a treasure box on her dresser. Three days later, Hou Yi led his disciples out on a hunting trip, but Peng Meng, who was harboring ulterior motives, pretended to be sick and didn't go out.

Shortly after Hou Yi left, Peng Meng broke into the backyard of the mansion with a sword in his hand and forced Chang E to hand over the immortality pill. Chang'e knew that she was no match for Peng Meng, and in a moment of crisis, she turned around, opened the treasure box, and took out the Pill of Immortality and swallowed it in one gulp. When Chang'e swallowed the medicine, her body immediately floated away from the ground, rushed out of the window, and flew toward the sky. As Chang'e was attached to her husband, she flew down to the closest to the earth on the moon and became immortal.

In the evening, Hou Yi returned home and his maids cried about what happened during the day. Houyi both shocked and angry, drew the sword to kill the villains, Peng Meng has long escaped, Houyi angry chest thumping, grief, looking up at the night sky calling Chang'e, then he found that today's moon is exceptionally bright and bright, and there is a swaying figure like Chang'e.

Hou Yi misses his wife, he sent people to Chang'e's favorite garden, set up incense, put Chang'e usually love to eat honey fresh fruit, remote sacrifice in the Moon Palace Chang'e. The people heard that Chang'e had gone to the moon. When the people heard the news that Chang'e had run to the moon and become immortal, they set up incense under the moon and prayed to the kind Chang'e for good luck and peace. From then on, the custom of moon worship on Mid-Autumn Day spread among the people.

5, Xuanzong story

The legend says that Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty and Shen Tianshi and Taoist Hongdu Mid-Autumn Moon Festival, suddenly Emperor Xuanzong rose up to the idea of touring the Moon Palace, so the Tianshi method, the three of them up on the clouds, roaming the Moon Palace. However, the palace is heavily guarded and cannot be entered, so they can only look down on the imperial city of Chang'an from the outside.

At this time, suddenly heard the sound of the immortal burst, Tang Xuanzong has always been familiar with the music, so memorize the heart. This is exactly "this song should only be in heaven, on earth can get a few times heard!" Later, Emperor Xuanzong recalled the music and song of the Moon Palace fairy, composed his own music and dance, creating the famous "Neishang Yuyi Song" in history.
