The China Central Radio and Television (CCTV) Spring Festival Gala Evening (中央广播电视总台春节联欢晚会), abbreviated as the CCTV Spring Festival Gala or Spring Festival Gala, is an annual event organized by the China Central Television Broadcasting System (CCTV) to celebrate the New Year's Eve on the night of New Year's Eve. Originating in 1979 and officially launched in 1983 , it was positioned as a national program in 2014.
