The Introduction of Guizhou Lantern Opera

Guizhou Flower Lantern Opera is an ancient Han Chinese opera genre. It was developed on the basis of local folk songs and dances in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China. At first, the lanterns were called Cai Hua Lanterns, with only songs and dances, then small operas were added to the songs and dances, and then later on, influenced by foreign operas, it developed into the performance of this opera. Guizhou lantern play is mainly popular in Dushan, Zunyi, Bijie, Anshun, Tongren and other places, is the main local theater in Guizhou and Yunnan, people customarily referred to as lantern. It is full of rich local flavor and national characteristics, among which the Tujia lantern of Sinan was listed as intangible cultural heritage in June 2006 by the state.
