The Origin and Customs of Guangyuan Daughter's Day
I. Origin
The mother of Empress Wu Zetian of the Tang Dynasty was pregnant while swimming in Guangyuan River, and was pregnant with Wu Zetian of Hiuke on the 23rd day of the first lunar month. Therefore, in the old society, people regarded this day as the meeting of Wu Zetian. On this day, people flocked to Huangze Temple, Zetianba and Jialing River. The women dressed up and invited each other to swim along the river bend for good luck. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, this activity was once interrupted. 1988, Guangyuan municipal government decided to resume this folk festival and named it "Daughter's Day", and set the date of the festival as 1 day in September of Gregorian calendar.

On the 23rd day of the first month of each year, women will put on new clothes and invite each other to swim along the bend of Jialing River for good luck and health.

On the night of Daughter's Day, Guangyuan City will hold a grand carnival night, including song and dance performances, food festivals and lottery activities.

On a clear summer and autumn night, the sky is full of stars, and a white galaxy spans the north and south like a flyover. On the east and west banks of the river, there is a shining star across the river, that is, Altair and Vega. It is a folk custom to sit and watch morning glory and Vega on Tanabata. According to legend, on the evening of the seventh day of the seventh lunar month every year, the weaver girl and the cowherd meet at the magpie bridge.
The Weaver Girl is a beautiful, clever and clever fairy. On this night, ordinary women prayed to her for wisdom and skillful skills, and they also prayed to her for a happy marriage. Therefore, the seventh day of July is also called Begging Festival. It is said that on Tanabata night, you can look up and see the Milky Way where the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl meet, and you can also eavesdrop on the love story when they meet in the sky under the melon and fruit shelf.
