What are China's traditional thoughts?

In China's ancient traditional thoughts, Confucianism occupied the mainstream most of the time. This is because Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty accepted the opinions of Wei Wan, Tian Fen, Dong Zhongshu and others that "one hundred schools of thought should be ousted and Confucianism should be respected alone", and the later "Neo-Confucianism" as the official thought was based on criticizing Buddhist heresy and inheriting Confucian orthodoxy. Moreover, the Five Classics and the Thirteen Classics, as the representative works of Confucian ideology and culture, have always been regarded as the basic classics of China culture by feudal rulers. Therefore, Confucianism gained the orthodox status and was regarded as the representative of China culture.

However, in the development of traditional culture in China, there are many other schools besides Confucianism, such as Taoism, Legalism, Masters, Yin and Yang, Mohism, and Buddhism introduced to China later.

Both Confucianism and Taoism were formed at the end of the Spring and Autumn Period, but from the end of the Spring and Autumn Period to the beginning of the Warring States Period, the opposition between Confucianism and Mohism was the sharpest and had the greatest impact on society, and they were called the two "outstanding schools" at that time.

When the Taoist school developed to Zhuangzi and others in the mid-Warring States period, it began to spread widely, thus becoming one of the three schools that stood with Confucianism and Mohism in the pre-Qin period. In the middle and late Warring States period, there was a prosperous situation of a hundred schools of thought contending in culture. At this time, on the one hand, there was a great division within each school. As far as Taoism was concerned at that time, Zhuangzi Tianxiapian had three differences: Meng Peng, Tianpian, Shinto, Guanyin, Lao Dan and Zhuang Zhou.
