What are the characteristics and types of country music?

Country music was first called folk songs, and the formation of this music form began in the agricultural areas of the southern States of the United States in the 1920s. It was handed down by British immigrants, and naturally there are many English folk songs. Later, it was developed under the influence of other national music, and it was not popular in the United States until after World War II, and it was called country music.

In the early days of the formation of country music, its style has a lot of local flavor, and its lyrics involve family, love, vagrancy, religion and so on. Its songs are narrative and take the form of segmented songs, and the music accompaniment is usually violin, banjo or guitar.
