Wild species of fish
There are wild species (or native) of all fish, including ornamental fish, and farmed food fish.
According to Nelson (1994), there are 24,618 species of fish*** in the world, and new species of fish are constantly being discovered, with an average of about 150 species per year, an increase of more than 1,500 species over the past decade, so that the number of named species of fish in the world should be over 26,000 at present.
