Can knee stiffness be treated?

There are many causes of knee stiffness. Traumatic knee stiffness is a common sequelae of orthopedic clinic, mostly caused by the knee joint or knee joint fracture, knee joint ligament injury, knee joint immobilization time is too long. The traditional treatment of joint stiffness: manipulation under anesthesia, easy to cause patella fracture, ligament tear. Knee stiffness occurs in: intra-articular stiffness, extra-articular stiffness, mixed stiffness. The purpose of knee stiffness treatment: complete release of the quadriceps muscle and extensive soft tissue adhesions, including intra-articular and extra-articular adhesions, in order to obtain the maximum range of motion of the knee joint. Surgery for release of joint stiffness Surgical indications: predominantly intra-articular adhesions of the knee. Surgical method: slow pushing and loosening, because the coarse intra-articular adhesion has been removed, usually only a small tearing sound; if the contracture of the intermediate femoral muscle is obvious, which seriously affects the flexion, a small incision can be taken on the outside of the patella, and the intermediate femoral tendon can be cut off; if the patellar mobility is still very poor, the lateral and medial fasciotomy can be carried out under the microscope to loosen the adhesion. Postoperative treatment points: use analgesic pump and immobilize in flexed position. Use anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs routinely. Avoid limb swelling, apply pressure bandage and ice packs on the affected limb to stop bleeding, dehydrate and reduce swelling. Use anti-inflammatory pain relievers routinely to prevent traumatic ossification. Do not do repeated, excessive flexion and extension exercises, if necessary, the second push under anesthesia.
