How to understand and know western democracy?

People who hold teleology believe that democracy is an end, a value orientation, a goal worth pursuing, and even various undemocratic methods are necessary; People who hold the theory of means believe that democracy itself is a means, a tool and a way to achieve the ultimate goal. Democracy has the ability of self-development and perfection. The continuous development of democratic system is driven by a series of thoughts and facts, which constitute a social movement. From the movement form, the democratic movement has two forms: gradual quantitative change and sudden qualitative change: when social contradictions are relatively relaxed, social contradictions are constantly solved and thus constantly evolve; When the accumulation of crises and contradictions exceeds the maximum tension of the democratic system itself, sudden qualitative change will be inevitable and the democratic system will be reconstructed. Two understandings of democratic operation come from two modes of democratic system operation: one is evolution, which has changed from gradual quantity to the main form of theory; One is constructivism, which takes sudden qualitative change as the main content of thinking.
