Patriotism of Patriotic Propaganda and Education
Patriotism encompasses attitudes of pride in the achievements and culture of the homeland; a strong desire to preserve the identity and cultural foundations of the homeland; and a sense of identification with the rest of the homeland's compatriots. "Patriotism" is closely related to "nationalism" and is often used as a synonym. Strictly speaking, nationalism is an ideology that often proclaims patriotism as a necessary and appropriate attitude. (Both nationalist political movements and expressions of patriotism have the potential to negate other people's "homelands," although this is not necessary.)
Patriotism implies a layer of morality: in and of itself, it implies that the "motherland" (however defined) is a moral standard or value. The famous phrase "My country may not always be right" is the extreme of this belief (it may have come from a misquote about U.S. Navy officer Stephen Decatur or Civil War general Carl Schurz). In addition, patriotism implies that individuals should put the interests of the nation above their personal and group interests. In times of war, this sacrifice extends to giving one's life. Dying in battle for one's country is an expression of patriotism.
The thoughts and feelings of loyalty and love for one's motherland are formed historically. Concentrated in the national pride and national self-confidence, in order to defend the motherland and strive for the independence and strength of the motherland and dedication to the spirit of struggle. It is not only embodied in various ideologies and the entire superstructure, such as politics, law, morality, art, religion, etc., but also permeates all aspects of social life and becomes an important factor influencing the destiny of the nation and the state. With the development and change of social and economic living conditions, it has different specific contents in different historical periods and different classes. Patriotism requires people to turn their love for the motherland into their own actions and to work hard for the interests of the motherland and the people; to insist on national equality and national unity, and to oppose the sense of national inferiority and blind national superiority; and to be linked with internationalism, to be a patriot as well as a staunch internationalist. Patriotism is an honorable tradition and a noble virtue of the Chinese nation, as well as the political and moral foundation of the great unity of all Chinese nationalities. Over thousands of years of history, the Chinese nation has developed a great national spirit of unity and solidarity, love of peace, diligence and courage, and self-improvement, with patriotism at its core. This is the emotional bond and spiritual pillar on which our nation relies for its existence and development. Adhering to the national spirit centered on patriotism is one of the basic contents of the socialist core value system. At the present stage, the most basic, essential and important manifestation of patriotism lies in sparing no effort to consolidate the broadest patriotic united front, and to make one's own contribution to safeguarding the unity of the motherland, strengthening national unity, constructing a harmonious society and realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Personal patriotism is a voluntary sentiment. Patriots are loyal to a particular value of patriotism, such as respect for the national flag.
Official patriotism promoted by the government contains highly symbolic and ritualized elements. Statements of these elements have a logical correlation to the promotion of patriotism and are legitimized by representations of the interests of political groups. National monuments, Memorial Day, etc. are typical examples. Official patriotism is usually accompanied by strict rituals, such as regulations on the raising and lowering of the flag, salutes, and forms of loyalty. Individual
Individual patriotism is a sentimental, voluntary patriotism. Patriots of this type have a certain defined view of patriotism, such as maintaining respect for the flag; not only that, but they often insist that all citizens, without allowing exceptions, should have the same view of patriotism as their own. This patriotism is structurally similar to other values concepts-movements, and is politically manifested by the attempt to have their own values better supported by law.
Official
Official patriotism is patriotism with a highly symbolic formal content, which all governments will always promote, no matter what the circumstances. It is a logical corollary of the state itself, and is based on the jurisprudence that "the state is a manifestation of the public **** welfare of the political community". National monuments, Veteran's Day, holidays honoring great men/historical events, etc., are all prime examples of official patriotism. The government may launch patriotic campaigns for a variety of reasons to enhance citizens' identification with the nation and its symbols.
Symbolic
Patriotism relies heavily on iconic behaviors, such as raising the flag, singing the national anthem, attending large rallies, placing patriotic stickers on cars and trucks, and other kinds of public proclamations of loyalty to the country. In wartime, symbolic patriotism is commonly used to boost morale and increase wartime efforts. In peacetime, on the other hand, patriotism is not as convenient a measure of contribution to the nation as it is in wartime, but it is not discarded by patriots. For example, the act of saluting the flag at a government site on a weekday is seen as an act of equal patriotism to saluting the flag on the battlefield.
Ordinary
History does show that some people fought for other countries, sometimes for their independence. For example, Marguise Lafayette, Dushko Hitchushko and Pulaski fought in the American Revolutionary War, and the Western European Fiorini fought for the independence of Greece, who was famously known as Sir Byron. So was Lafayette an American patriot or was Fiorini a Greek patriot? Alasdair would say they were neither. These men were idealists rather than patriots. From this perspective, Lafayette was merely committing himself to the idea of political freedom underlying the American Revolution rather than harboring a special patriotic feeling for America. Alasdair believes that patriotism can only be a choice for people in this country, not for those in other countries who love the beliefs of this country. 1, love the greatness of the motherland;
2, love one's fellow countrymen, flesh and blood;
3, love the splendid culture of the motherland;
4, love one's own country. 1, love the motherland, unswerving
2, the rise and fall of the world, the responsibility of all men
3, uphold the unity, against division
4, the same enemy, against foreign insults. 1, patriotism is the spiritual pillar of the Chinese nation from the past to the present
2, patriotism is to maintain the unity of the motherland and the bond of national unity
3, patriotism is the driving force to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation
4, patriotism is the source of strength for individuals to realize the value of life. Reform and opening up, especially since entering the new stage of the new century, our country is located in the domestic and foreign environment has changed greatly, patriotism has more in line with the reality, more conducive to cohesion, morale and unity of the majority of the people of the new connotation. 2004, the second meeting of the 10th National People's Congress adopted the "Chinese People's *** and the State of China's constitutional amendments" pointed out that long process of revolution and construction, a broad patriotic united front has been formed under the leadership of the Chinese People's Party, with the participation of all democratic parties and people's organizations, including all socialist workers, builders of socialist undertakings, patriots supporting socialism, and patriots supporting the unification of the motherland, and this united front will continue to be consolidated and developed." This exposition clarifies the scope of the patriotic united front in the new period and provides a basic basis for understanding and grasping patriotism in the new period.
