Because of his wonderful mouth, Dabing's early life could be described as smooth.

On November 8, 1968, he was born "Ren Jun" in Changsha, Hunan Province.

The child was diagnosed with Pediatric Hyperactivity Disorder (PADD) at a young age, which sounds scary, but in fact doesn't affect the child's intelligence, but is only characterized by impulsivity in his emotions.

Ren Jun spent his entire student life in his hometown, studying at the Changsha Yanwachi Elementary School, Changsha No. 1 Middle School, and the Hunan Normal University Art Department.

In 1993, demobilized and returned to Changsha, Ren Jun was recruited to work for Changsha People's Radio for a period of time.

In 1984, as a high school student, Dabing was thrilled to win first prize for his stand-up comedy at a school party.

His future comedy teacher and long-time partner, Yang Qizhi, had already moved from the army's cultural troupe to the Hunan Provincial Association of Chinese Opera Artists, where he specialized in the creation and performance of comedy.

The veteran of the literary front, born in 1953 and known by his stage name "Qi Zhi", is not from Hunan, but has worked and lived here for a long time, and ultimately has been a key figure in bringing the southern school of comedy to fruition.

Dabing's connection to Qizhi was at Martyrs Park in Changsha.

At the time, Yang Qizhi was practicing his new comedy piece in the park with his co-stars in preparation for a national comedy competition in the near future. For two days in a row, a small, thin teenager in a blue school uniform found his way to this remote corner and stood nearby, watching quietly.

When the two finished practicing, the teenager finally couldn't help but run up to Yang Qizhi and say, "Teacher, my name is Ren Jun, and I go to school in No. 1 Middle School. I especially like comedy, can you teach me?"

Yang Qizhi was impressed by the teenage soldier's earnestness and told him where he lived.

From then on, Dabing ran to Yang Qizhi's house every weekend with a tape recorder, and began to study seriously from the most basic knowledge of comedy.

Although this was a less formal master-disciple relationship, Dabing never denied that Yang Qizhi was his initial comedy guide in the years that followed.

So when the two met unexpectedly at a performance venue one day in 1995, it was only natural for Bing to mention: "Do you want us to perform together and make money together? Yang Qizhi was happy to know the level of his former student, and happy to have found a partner of his choice.

The two became the Qi Zhi Da Bing duo, and they started to perform all over the place.

They went to Qizhi's office at the Hunan Provincial Federation of Literature every afternoon to do creative work, and at night, they brought new stories to perform at the opera house, because the economy is not generous, Qizhi rode a broken motorcycle every day and drove the soldiers around, rain or shine.
