What is "three more than nine"? Seek answers

"Three More Nine Rus" is a commonly used eulogy in Chinese tradition. Those who are "more than three" mean "long life, many blessings and many children." "Nine Rus", that is, mountains, hills, tombs, rivers, the moon, the rising sun, the longevity of Nanshan, and the luxuriance of pines and cypresses, come from the Book of Songs 61 Xiaoya 61 Tianbao. The poem uses nine words "Ru" in succession, enumerates nine auspicious signs, and praises the virtuous monarch for his kindness to all the people, and his longevity is endless, which is extremely imposing and infectious.

..... Heaven will protect you, (God bless you, Ning)

Don't be unhappy. Everything prospers. )

like a hill, (like a vast hill,)

like a hill like a mausoleum. (Like a high hill. )

If the direction of the river reaches, (it is like a big river rushing,)

It will increase. (Fulu is more prosperous. ) ..... as the moon is constant, (as the first-quarter moon,)

as the sun rises. (Like the rising sun. )

Like the longevity of Nanshan, (like Nanshan always exists)

If you don't die, you won't collapse. (It won't collapse at a loss. )

like the luxuriant pines and cypresses, (like the tall pines and cypresses)

there is nothing to lose. (Always lush. )

Later, people used bats or bergamot to homonym "fu", peaches to mean "longevity", pomegranates as a metaphor to express the meaning of "many blessings and many children", and nine ruyi were used to match them, which harmonizes the meaning of "nine ruyi", thus forming a fixed auspicious pattern called "three ruyi", which is common in porcelain and jade articles.
