The relationship between philology and classical literature research

Philology is a comprehensive subject with a wide range of research. The study of philology is of great value to the collection, arrangement, management and utilization of literature resources. Classical philology should be regarded as literature or Chinese, or Chinese language and literature. It includes many things. It is an interdisciplinary subject among ancient literature, ancient Chinese, philology and other disciplines, including the theories and methods of literature collation and classical literature research.

Philology and literature are inseparable. Any document can be studied by us. First of all, it must be preserved in the form of a document. The same is The Songs of the South. We can study it from different angles of philology and literature, and there will be different results. Classical philology focuses on catalogue, edition and collation, while literature focuses more on language and art. History, like literature, must first be literature if it is to be circulated in the form of literature. Many classical documents of China are historical records, which are the most important materials for us to study the ancient history of China. Philosophy and the thoughts of ancient philosophers in China are all expressed through documents, such as Zhouyi, Laozi, Zhuangzi, The Analects of Confucius and Mencius. So far, I haven't heard of anyone who can study China's ancient philosophy without the handed down literature. In a word, classical philology is a discipline that integrates literature, history and philosophy.
