What Chinese martial arts did Donnie Yen learn, Chinese martial arts.
Mother started teaching Donnie Yen martial arts as soon as he could walk, from which he learned traditional and modern martial arts, as well as Tai Chi, and understood the laws of martial arts, both internal and external.
In 1978, because Donnie Yen was influenced by Bruce Lee's love of free sparring and his mother wasn't very good at it, he asked a friend to go to the Shichahai Sports School in Beijing to learn sparring.
Returning to the U.S. in 1982, Donnie Yen won the U.S. Regional Wushu Competition, making him famous in foreign martial arts circles.
In 1987, Donnie Yen came from the United States to Xi'an to study traditional routines with Zhao Changjun at the Shaanxi Physical Education Institute, which laid the groundwork for traditional martial arts in the future.
