What does software engineering (international education) mean?

Software Engineering (SE for short) is a discipline that studies the construction and maintenance of effective, practical and high-quality software by engineering method. It involves programming languages, databases, software development tools, system platforms, standards, design patterns and so on.

The traditional software methodology reflects the essence of the problem from the perspectives of machine-oriented, data-oriented, process-oriented, function-oriented and data-oriented. The appearance of object-oriented method makes software methodology take a big step, but it does not solve the difficulties such as advanced reuse and distributed heterogeneous interoperability.

The component-based software design method provides an opportunity to solve this problem. It separates application logic from implementation, provides a standard interface and framework, and turns software development into a combination of components. Component-based software methodology is interface-centered, behavior-oriented and architecture-based, which requires: clear definition of components; Describe components with UML, JavaBean, EJB, Servlet and other component description technologies and specifications. To develop an application system, roles should be cut, divided, organized and assigned according to components; Ensure the realization of component specification and quality test by using tools that support component feature verification and document generation.

Applying component-based software design methodology can support reuse technology more effectively, improve software quality, reduce the workload of software design and development, reduce software development cost and improve productivity.
